JEANETTE KURNOW IS YOUR CALIFORNIA STATE CHAMPION!
Oh wow, what a day! Tropical Storm Rachel certainly kept things interesting, but nothing was stopping Jeanette Kurnow from having her championship moment!
Jeanette grabbed the spotlight and delivered a performance worthy of a STATE CHAMPION!

This was one of the proudest moments of my coaching career, and the funny thing is, I did very little. This was all Jeanette. Her natural talent, determination, and competitive spirit were on full display. Even with the swim, her strongest discipline, canceled due to the weather, she ran like a girl on fire and biked like a champion!
Jeanette is a champion. Period. And 3T now has TWO California State Champions under our banner!
A big shoutout to Fiona Kurnow, who once again showed courage and resilience competing in challenging conditions. She continues to grow, compete, and finish. That's what multisport is all about!

As for Ada, she was sidelined by her father (yep, that's me). Looking back, she probably could have competed for another state title, even racing against 10-year-olds. But that's okay. There will be plenty of opportunities ahead, especially in the Midwest and East Coast.
Today felt a little like passing the 3T torch to the Kurnow family for the Tustin chapter. As one chapter begins to close, another is getting ready to start.
3T West Chester is coming!
But we're not done with California just yet! Tri Cal Newport Dunes is next for me. Just an Olympic-distance triathlon, which apparently is my baseline these days!
Above everything else, I couldn't be prouder of Jeanette Kurnow. Watching young athletes discover what they're capable of is why I love coaching.
Congratulations, Jeanette! You earned every bit of this championship. Enjoy your moment. You've made 3T proud!
